FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Losing your possessions and not being able to prove to your insurance company that you ever owned them. Property & Casualty insurance adjusters highly recommend video recordings to prove ownership, property condition, and current dollar value of your property prior to a loss. The aftermath of a powerful wind event, flood, fire or burglary is traumatic enough without the anxiety of uncertain recovery from your insurance carrier.

Video Property Archives™ eases your mind with the knowledge that you have a comprehensive digitally date-stamped video archive of your real and personal property. Consider how much time, effort, and expense it would take, if even possible, to recall and log in detail your valuable contents and amenities. In fact, most claimants are unable to recall 60% of their personal property losses following a catastrophic event. It's human nature to be stressed and ill-focused long after a disaster strikes. Strikingly, when testing our memory prior to a loss results show we forget up to 40%.

  • Do I have to direct and accompany the videographer throughout my home?

Yes. You or an authorized representative will direct and accompany our videographer throughout your home or business so as much detail as possible can be recorded. Please note: If entire rooms or any portion thereof, and/or personal property exists that you desire not to be documented for any reason, please let us know prior to the filming.

  • Can audio remarks be part of the recording process?

Yes, we encourage it.

The description of an item or a group of items should be brief, detailing what is known to be accurate and verifiable.

For purchased personal property please include approximate age, purchase price and place of purchase. Note: Always keep your sales receipts for expensive items in a safe place.

For personal property handed down, family heirlooms, collectibles, antiques, etc., please include age, condition, and current known value.

Its byproduct delivers a specialized custom video-recording revealing a permanent legacy for your family and heirs to preserve your lifestyle, heirlooms, and valuables and the stories behind them.

Taking these initial steps will greatly improve your video property archive to be as accurate and effective as possible.

  • Privacy Guarantee:

Video Property Archives™ realizes the trust involved in recording your personal property. We guarantee you absolute privacy.  Video Property Archives™ does not share or retain any original or duplicate client recordings and strongly advises clients to store the DVD in an off-site safe deposit box.

  • Disclaimer:

Video Property Archives™ makes no representations, guarantees, or warranties of any kind relating to the outcome of third party transactions for which this video archive may be used, including but not limited to insurance claims relating to property damage or loss, real estate transactions, or any other use or application of audio/video or video recording.

  • Should I attempt video-recording myself?

You can, but most homeowners don't take the time, or have the expertise and specialized videographic equipment. In addition, Do-it-yourself videos may limit and/or delay your recovery, which may fall far short of the limits of your insurance policies. Over a decade of experience uniquely qualifies VPA to provide you with a professional recording of your personal property. Our highly detailed recordings become your key tool-of-reference for written claim submission purposes to your carrier.

  • Are still photographs as reliable as a video-recording?

No. Photographs tend to be one dimensional, usually undated, and cannot possibly reveal the detail and overall condition of real or personal property in the same manner that a multi-dimensional, digitally date-stamped audio/video recording will. Think about how many still photographs it would take to create the same effect as a video recording.

  • What is the standard recording time requirement?

Up to 3 hours on premises per residence.

  • If I have large quantities of possessions and/or collectables to be recorded, is it likely the recording process will take longer and cost more than the initial estimate?

It could. Additional fees are based on extended recording requirements. You will be advised if there will be any additional charges.
